Weather Regulations

We are required outdoor play time at least once a day. The exceptions to this are for severe weather events including the temperature cut off stated below and extreme weather conditions or weather warnings (e.g. high wind chill, rain, humidity warning). However, since it is important to go outside and get physical activity, we try to take children outside at least once a day, even if it’s for a few minutes, so weather appropriate clothing should be available for each child attending the centre.

Toddlers /Preschool /Kindergarten/ School Age:

Winter Cut-off:  -25°C (including wind chill)

We do not go outside when it is colder than the above cutoff. If it is warmer then the staff will use their discretion regarding the length of time outside, wind, sunshine and how the children are coping.

Not only will children not go outside but they will also not be walked to school or picked up from school. Staff will inform parent’s if this occurs and it will be the parent’s responsibility to arrange transportation. The children are able to stay in the daycare if the parents choose not to take their children to school.
